Former SLAA president Dr. Abu Conteh addresses the 2024 SLAA election

The Narrative that Dr. Conteh and his Executive wanted to make Ms. Mariama president is false, and it needs to stop. As I mentioned the other day, Dr. Conteh and his executive will be heard by community members. Not to sway you, but to give you insight into what transpired so you can have the information you need to form your unbiased opinion.

What is discussed in this video is what Dr. Conteh presented at the "elders meeting." I was present and watched him give a thorough explanation of the steps that the executive took to ensure that we had a free and fair election. He also backed everything with evidence. After his presentation, we were informed that at the elders meeting with the Electoral Commissioners, most of what he presented was not presented by the commissioner. The "elders" were told by the commissioner that Dr. Conteh and his executive never communicated some of those things with her and her team. when there is documented evidence to the effect.

For a minute, I felt fairness was present when I heard some of the elders mention that if that was the case, then the commissioners should not have conducted an election. They should have waited to clear all the concerns before embarking on hosting the election. That was quickly overshadowed by others in the meeting. Dr. Conteh was given these options, "Handover to Foday or do another election for them."  Dr. Conteh responded that Foday was not eligible in the first place. How do you expect us to entertain such proposals? He was told, and I quote, "We will just move on, and the community will isolate you." What a thing to say in a meeting that was supposedly a "peace accord."

It baffles me to see that the report that was written said Dr. Conteh could not explain or give proper reasons. When the reality was, he did explain and gave his proper reasons, but they were ignored, and an ultimatum was imposed on him.  Some people said he disrespected the "elders." This man showed up to a meeting that he did not have to. He took his time to gather his evidence, and he presented all his evidence. Does that look like a disrespectful action?  I guess it became disrespectful to some when he chose not to go against the oath he swore when he took office.

The man and some of us have integrity. Unlike some of whom were the loudest in the executive meetings and made their "yes" vote, they were quick to flip when it hit the fan ( yes, all of that is on record). Talk about lacking integrity. These people are the epitome of that. These people lack integrity in the marrow in their bones.

We all looked at the bylaws and interpreted it. We met and discussed it. We got a legal opinion to look at it and let us know what we were missing, if any. We went through all those steps before making our decisions as an executive. We thought we were following structure, but this seems to be a foreign language to some people. I am willing to answer any question any community member has to the best of my knowledge and ability. I will pause here for now.

Please watch and listen to the full address of Dr. Abu Conteh on the video atttached on this article.
