Behind the Scenes with Lans Omar - October 5, 2024.

Hello everyone!

From Winnipeg, Canada, respect to all my fam, fans and friends!

The weekend vibes are here: Da Golden Child back in the city after long holidays, big loss in the Jamaican/African community in Winnipeg, Golden Conclave’s Oldies Nite heating up in the ‘Peg, Ernest Bai Koroma in the question of the day, plus lots more. You're about to read another neck-breaking edition of “Behind the Scenes". This column is the radical thoughts of one guy called Lans Omar aka the “Golden Child” - born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Let's do this: First, my profound apologies for being missing in action and the 40 Acres Canada Newsletter was off the platforms for three weeks, that’s not the usual game. For the past four weeks, I’ve been running around from North America to the UK. I just came back from London, UK, after joining hands with the crew to produce the biggest Sierra Leonean entertainment stage on earth – the Afro Arts Productions’ awards nite. It was a blast and I’m back in PegCity, I'll be out again next week but guaranteed, this media will be always available every Saturday at your fingertips.

Switching gears: Another big loss in the Jamaican/African community in Winnipeg, Canada. Brother Marvin, owner of Small Ones Fashion store, passed away on Tuesday October 1, 2024, in Winnipeg, Canada. Marvin was a Jamaican brother who was very active in both the Jamaican and African communities in Winnipeg. He was a businessman and was also into showbiz, fashion, and entertainment. For the longest time, Big Marv, as he was fondly called, managed, and operated the Small Ones Fashion Store in Winnipeg. Bro, you'll be missed by all your homies. It was a smooth ride with you, rest well Big Marv!

In another obituary, the Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba, Canada, shares the news of the passing of Mr. Alie Hassan Nasralla’s brother, Mr. Abess Nasralla, who passed away on September 17, 2024. Mr. Abess Nasralla died in Sierra Leone. SALNAM executive extends their deepest condolences to the bereaved families both here in Winnipeg and abroad as they go through a sad moment in their lives. Rest in peace Mr. Abess Nasralla.

Next stop: Tonight, Saturday October 5, 2024, the Golden Conclave will be hosting its annual Oldies Night at 200 Kenny Street, Winnipeg, Canada. This is a big one as it’s the group’s 20th anniversary of celebrating the Oldies Night. Be there on time at 7:00pm with your $30.00 ready to pay and enter; all proceeds from this event go the Conclave Scholarships Fund in Sierra Leone. See you there tonight!

Question: Sierra Leone’s run-away president, Ernest Bai Koroma, celebrated his birthday on October 2, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, at a lavish event hosted by Nigerian billionaire Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu. Question – why would they throw a lavish party for a run-away president? Oona lef me, oona all nor serious!

Finally: The weekend is here! I’m in the city and I’m going to attend most of the events around. Tonight, I’ll be at the Golden Conclave Oldies Night at 200 Kenny Street. But, before that, we have a pre-game at Alaska’s place, if you wanna join us, we have all the goodies there.

Fellas, If you plan to drink, please drink responsibly. If you’re driving, don’t drink – if you’re drinking, don’t drive.
Have a great weekend! Lonta.

I'm out of here!
Cheers fellas!
The Golden Child.
