Hello everyone!
From Winnipeg, Canada, respect to all my fam, fans, and friends!
The weekend vibes are here – Mourning the passing of my baby sister in Freetown, SALNAM’s new vibrant website up and running, former President Ernst Koroma in big trouble again. NGC/SLPP alliance in the question of the day, plus lots more. You're about to read another neck-breaking edition of “Behind the Scenes". This column is the radical thoughts of one guy called Lans Omar aka the “Golden Child” - born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Let's do this: On Tuesday February 27, 2024, I just got to work in the morning hours when I got a call from Freetown with sad echoing message that my baby sister passed away. Fulaymatu Olombo aka “White Mama” had been battling a rare form of cancer for the past four years and she had fought it so hard up to the very last day of her life on earth. I spoke to her few hours before I got that call, and she told me she going home today from the hospital, but Allah knows the best. She was my baby sister, we grew up together in the same household at Olombo House in Thunder Hill Old Road, Freetown. She was my confidante and best friend. Rest on little sister; may Allah forgive your wrongdoings and grant you Jannah. I know for sure I’ll see you at the doorsteps of Jannah and we will walk in together. Ameen!
Switching gears: SALNAM, the Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba, has dropped the most-awaited community website on February 28, 2024, in Winnipeg, Canada. The new website’s address is www.salnam.ca and it’s up and running. The website currently has six active navigation bars with sub-links where you see all the community’s activities, events, and contacts, etc. for the organization. In the coming weeks, a link will be added on the site for community members to be able to pay their monthly dues and contributions. Kudos to President Mohamed Moe Koroma and the entire executive team!
Next stop: Sierra Leone’s run-away president, Ernest Bai Koroma, is in big trouble again. The former president is trying to escape some prison term by faking a serious medical condition on himself. Now, the lawyers of the run-away President Ernest Bai Koroma have been given 21 days by the court to present a new medical report on his health condition or the court will order President Koroma to be repatriated to Sierra Leone from Nigeria to face his four-count charges including treason. Dis nar big big trouble oh, lol. This is so embarrassing for a former president to put himself on self-exile and not only that, running away from justice. Anyways, this is not my business.
Question: Police kicked out NGC party members who gathered on Friday for a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the party’s office. The meeting was intended for NGC’s withdrawal from its alliance with the SLPP. Question: Why? Don’t ask me “why what?”. Now, NGC is disgruntled that The Paopa Boys didn’t give them any position after the alliance, lol. Salone nor to serious country – says political commentator Suhood Komeh.
Finally: Again, the weekend is here! Mrs. Vivian Omar just came back last night from up north in the communities doing her nursing job; and she and Ms. Maryam Omar will be heading to Cancun, Mexico, on Monday – that means I’m going to be home all weekend doing my husband’s duties. Heard me?
Fellas, again, I always say this – if you plan to have some good time and get a drink, you know the rules, right? If you’re drinking, don’t drive – if you’re driving, don’t drink. Have a great weekend! Lonta.
I'm out of here!
Cheers fellas!
The Golden Child.
