Let's do this: The mortal remains of Abubakarr Bax Koroma will be laid to rest on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Winnipeg, Canada. The funeral will be at Coutou Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB. at 11:00 am. Thereafter, the interment of the body will take place at the St. Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB. A celebration of the life of Abubakarr Bax Koroma is scheduled to take place the next day Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the South Winnipeg Community Centre, 666 Silverstone Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. The celebration of life of Bax will commence from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Community members are all welcome to celebrate the life of Bax.
Switching gears: Marian "Mummy" Taqi celebrated her fabulous 50th birthday bash lavishly on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Caboto Event Centre in Winnipeg, Canada. The theme was an all-white suit with a black bow tie for the guys and the ladies were all beautifully dressed in long evening gowns honouring the "Queen". Guests came from out of province and out of the country to grace Marian’s fabulous 50th birthday party.
The MC was flown in from the US, a belly dancer from the Caboto Italian community entertained the audience, DJs Brian and AbdulRahman killed the night with the latest songs, food and beverages were served all night. The night was locked down with the cutting of the cake and the birthday girl recognized some people who have been in her life with flowers.
Next stop: The Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba (SALNAM) is having a fundraising car wash today, Saturday, July 6, 2024. Take your vehicle down to 1441 Henderson Highway at the Domo parking lot, Winnipeg, Canada, starting from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It’s just $5.00 or donate to the project. Proceeds from this fundraising go directly to the development of the Sierra Leone community in Manitoba.

Finally: Again, the weekend is here! It’s my birthday weekend; tomorrow Sunday, July 7, 2024, will be my birthday! My birthday has always been a strictly family event since day one in Freetown and that tradition has been upheld up to this day. For my birthday, gifts will be opened in the morning, and the family will gather at home for prayers and a chill-out. A professional chef will be in the yard grilling BBQ and other goodies for the Omars. We will have a burnfire and music. The night will be climaxed with some fireworks firing from the backyard.
Fellas, my take for the weekend – there are lots of free Summer parties all over the city, hop on one or simply just drop at The Forks and hang out with friends and fam. You know the rules, right? Drinking alcohol and driving is strictly prohibited in Manitoba – don’t drink and drive! Have a great weekend! Lonta.
