Behind the Scenes with Lans Omar - December 30, 2023.

From Winnipeg, Canada, respect to all my fam, fans, and friends!

Sierra Leoneans have a tradition of sharing and giving gifts from immemorial time. At special holiday seasons such as Christmas, the act of giving takes a significant turn. And this year and for the first time, SALNAM has shown the community that our kids, who are our gems and future leaders deserve special attention. In building up to the Christmas momentum this year, the Mo Koroma led SALNAM has yet again shown that our community kids are our everything.

Providing a Christmas party was not the only purpose, as the fact that massive amount of gifts were given to each of our kids that attended the merry-making occasion. What more! It was a free- event for all to attend.

The event took place at St. Marks Place on December 16, 2023. Kids and young children accompanied with their parents showed up in their numbers for the events. A major highlight of the event was the attendance of father Christmas, Santa Claus which drew lots of fun and excitement of the kids. The atmosphere was hilarious and boisterous. All kids lined up for their gifts and to take a photo with father Christmas.

Switching gears: It’s funny, so hypocritical, foolish and sad how the First Lady of an entire country could go public, begging her husband, the president of the country, to pardon someone in jail for a petty crime that was never even committed in the first place. Just days before Christmas Day, the Sierra Leone entertainment industry hosted by Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima “Gucci” Bio at President Bio's office at State House where they are pleading to President Bio for an appeal for a presidential pardon for the wrongful conviction of Sierra Leonean rapper Boss LA. Really? SMH.

In the video released by the First Lady herself, she was seen with other artists including Kao Denero, Vida, Mr. Yemata, Base and others taking turns calling on his “excellency” the president to consider Boss LA for a presidential pardon in the new year. Is she (Fatmati “Gucci” Bio”) not the WOMAN that goes to bed with the president every single night? How hard is it for the First Lady to tell the president (her husband) to just pardon the rapper for a crime he never committed How F**King hypocritical? God get patient ya. Some people will dodge God on the Day of Qayamat and asks God for them (the wicked people) to be put directly into the Hell Fire without God judging them! Truth. I’m out of here.

Next stop:  The Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba (SALNAM) is hosting its annual banquet with a dinner and dance on Sunday, December 31st, 2023 (New Year's Eve) at the Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church Community Centre, 200 Kenny Street, Winnipeg, Canada. The event starts with a meet & greet at 7:00pm and the banquet will commence from 8:50pm till 1:00am. The cover fees for this event is $35.00/per person and all proceeds from this event will go directly to the development of SALNAM. Community members and friends are invited to celebrate the new year with SALNAM.

Question: Just asking – why is a checkpoint installed at former President Ernest Bai Koroma Avenue in Makeni? That’s the primary entrance to the former president’s premises in Makeni. Why?

Finally: Again, the weekend is here! Today, I’ll be checking out the Congress of Black Women Manitoba Kwanza celebrations at the Jamaican Hall this afternoon. Tomorrow, Sunday December 31, 2023, I’ll be at the SALNAM End of Year banquet, all events happening in Winnipeg, Canada. I’m not flying out this weekend.

Fellas, just so you know there are lots of free city parties going on – if you plan to have some good time and get a drink, you know the rules, right? If you’re drinking, don’t drive – if you’re driving, don’t drink. Have a great weekend! Lonta.

I'm out of here!

Cheers fellas!

The Golden Child.
